CSCPG News and Updates (9 Apr)

Hi Everyone,

April is going to be a very cool month.  We will be giving away our first Student Scholarship on the 23rd.  I have deducted the yearly MeetUp fees, so we are now putting everything we gather towards our 2015 scholarship funds- so if you pay your dues it will go directly to the scholarship fund.  I have also put a fundraiser on the calendar.  So please consider donating to this worthy cause.  Our goal is to raise $500 for two Student Scholarships-- the idea is that we will add a new school every year.  We HAVE funded our 1st school, we just need (11) more people, at the $25 level, to step up and fund our second.  If your kids take photography in school, or have friends that work for school districts please pass along their photography teachers names.  We will be looking for a new school for 2016.

Breathtaking Photography By Photojournalist SebastiĆ£o Salgado  SebastiĆ£o Salgado is probably one the most well-known photojournalist working today.

Member Profile:  James (Jim) Harris, a Co-organizer and Organizer for the Quiet Light Workshop MeetUp Group.  A professional photographer since 1979. He used to shoot with a Linhof Technika 4x5 view camera.  He moved to digital in 2000 and now shoots exclusively with Nikon equipment.  He likes to specialize in landscapes, panoramas, HDR, senior and family portraits, model photography, and teaching photo classes and leading on-location workshops.  He has some wonderful on location workshops planned, so contact him to sign up.

Rants&Raves:  We had a great first exhibit for the Visual Arts for Social Change Group at Monument Library on the 5th.  We started with 18 photographers in the Group and had 5 photographers exhibit.  It was a lot of fun to hear each photographers' story and see their dedication to their Causes.  If you have time, stop by the library and check out the work.  I am headed out on a 5 day rafting trip today.  It will be nice to be on the river.  It is a real pleasure to pack for a trip and have  room left over.  Rafting is so much different than backpacking.
