One Minute Update (28 Mar)

Hi Everyone,

Dreams do come true.  2 Years ago I had a dream about a 'Community' photo contest.  A contest that showcased the great photography of local photographers and shared us with the community we are a part of.  Hanging the show and hosting the Gala last Thursday was as much of a dream come true for me, as I believe it was a dream come true for the winners-- who walked home with trophies or ribbons.  So do dream, and dream big.  Because sometimes dreams do come true.

Thank you to everyone for all the support (financial/emotionally and otherwise).  I couldn't have done it alone.  Thank you to the Judges: Charlie Lehman, Kristal Kraft, Jason Odell. Jim Harris, Amy & Paul Martin and especially to Hope Phepps- who always is fun and motivated to work with.  Here is a hearty welcome aboard to Arnett Luce who has volunteered to be the intern and do some of the behind the scenes work that makes the contest happen.

I encourage you all to create a folder on your computer and start saving your best shots for next years contest.  Because we are all excited that the contest will continue and we want it to improve.  We wish for each of you to dream.

News;

 Free Mini-Course for Beginners, thanks go to A.G. Shaw for finding and sharing this on Facebook.  I have heard CreativeLive has some nice classes- I hope this is one of them.

Student Scholarship Judging will be from 3-5 on April 23rd at the Cheyenne Mountain Junior High.  We will award ribbons for 1st-3rd place in 5 categories and then judge portfolios to determine the CSCPG/CMJH Photographer of the Year (with a cash prize of $250)

Our goal is to add a school every year.  For 2015 we will collaborate with the Cheyenne Mountain Junior High and hopefully the Air Academy High School.  I hope that people can really get behind these Scholorship Drives.  Making a positive difference in the lives of student photographers is an amazing dream, and one that we can make come true.  (email me for details)  The teachers and I are excited, I hope that you will be to.

Member Prophile: Valerie a NEW member and a DUEs paying

member at that.  She's says that she is "looking for opportunities to improve my photography skills and meet some new friends!"  I hope you will check out her web site www.valerieobrienphotography.com. Please welcome her to the group and look forward to meeting her at a MeetUp soon.  The CSCPG continues to grow and we now have 974 on our FaceBook site and we hope to grow that to 1,000 by our 7th Anniversay in May.

Charlie
